Education Programs

YKDFN Education Programs were established by Chiefs and Council with financial contribution from Diavik Diamond Mines Inc. (DDMI) to support and encourage YKDFN Membership to pursue academic excellence and ensuring access to quality education.

Current YKDFN Education Programs are available for as follows:

  • YKDFN High School Achievement Award.
  • YKDFN Academic.
  • YKDFN Education Bursary.

All applications are considered and will be processed from date received at the Yellowknives Dene First Nation’s office, provided that the applicant meets the education program criteria, guidelines, and submits all required information and documentations as set per program.  Once an application is received, it will be processed, reviewed, and decided by the Chief. We recommend applying early as possible prior to starting your year of study. Be advised that incomplete applications and missing information/documentation will delay process. Waiting period is appx. 2-3 weeks.

SCHOLARSHIPS 2019/20 School Year

Yellowknives Dene First Nation will be accepting one (1) General Scholarship Application to automatically apply for our two (2) scholarship programs with our affiliated IBA mining companies; Yellowknives Dene First Nation/Diavik Diamond Mine and Yellowknives Dene First Nation/De Beers Canada Scholarship Programs.

This is a simple application process for students that we hope will find helpful.  Though, each scholarship program has their own objectives and separate Selection Committees to assess applications and select based on eligibility criteria and application requirements.
