School/Work/Home Balance

Our School/Life/Work Balance Program takes a holistic perspective on student achievement. Throughout the year, students learn about pursuing a healthy balance in all aspects of their lives. Some of our previous School/Life/Work Balance activities have included:

  • On-the-Land activities including ice fishing, hunting, dogsledding, setting up tents, making lean-tos, and preparing traditional foods
  • Trying new hobbies such as fiddle lessons, fish scale art, glassware making, painting and drawing, canoe lessons, and bowling
  • Physical health such as strength training and cardio at the Racquet club, fitness classes, exercising at the fieldhouse, and nutrition and vitamin information sessions with a registered dietician
  • Mental health, including referrals to student supports
  • And spiritual wellbeing including identifying and picking traditional earth medicines and visiting with Elders to distribute food and traditional earth medicines
